Everything at Project Arc is made in our family workshop in Chiang Mai, located in the north of Thailand.

We use materials chosen for strength, function, and how they age.

Here’s what goes into our camera straps:

Materials and Methods

Horween Chromexcel Leather

Tanned in Chicago by the Horween Leather Company, Chromexcel is the result of a process that takes nearly 30 days and involves more than 80 individual steps.
Each hide is hot-stuffed with a proprietary blend of oils and waxes, then hand-finished to bring out its depth of color and signature pull-up character.
The result is a leather that’s soft yet durable, rich in tone, and designed to age beautifully—developing a patina that reflects how it’s used.

Ritza Tiger Thread

Imported from Germany, Ritza Tiger is a flat-bonded polyester thread chosen for its strength, UV resistance, and clean stitch profile.
It resists fraying and moisture, ensuring every seam stays tight for years.
Its smooth surface and even tension make for precise, enduring hand-stitching.

Saddle Stitching

Each strap is hand-sewn using the traditional saddle stitch—two needles passing through the same hole in opposite directions.
Unlike machine-stitching, a single broken thread won’t unravel the seam.
It’s slower, but stronger, and leaves a line of stitching that feels unmistakably crafted by hand.

Cura Split Rings

Made in Japan by Cura, these precision-engineered split rings begin as solid brass, then are nickel-plated and polished for up to 20 hours.
Brass is softer than the steel found in many rings, making it kinder to your camera lugs—especially on vintage Leica M bodies.
They secure firmly while preserving the finish of your camera.

Tubular Rivets

We use tubular rivets, not the quick rivets often found on mass-produced straps.
While quick rivets are fast to install, they tend to shear or loosen over time. Tubular rivets, on the other hand, spread evenly through the leather when set by hand, creating a secure and permanent joint that won’t pull through under tension.
